Local manufacturers will have the opportunity to take part in a free event later this month aimed at fostering a more inclusive workplace.

The County of Simcoe, in partnership with its member municipalities, Georgian College, the cities of Barrie and Orillia and the provincial government have announced the new free one-day workshop, slated to run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Cultures of Belonging in the Workplace, which will be delivered by Georgian College and take place at Snow Valley Resort, just outside Barrie, is aimed at helping to equip business leaders, supervisors, team leads, and human resources professionals who work directly in a manufacturing facility in Simcoe County with practical strategies to create workplaces that embrace and uplift diverse experiences.

During the course of the day, local leaders will learn how to engage all employees to contribute their best and work across diverse identities to create positive change in their organizations, stated the press release.

“Participants will also be taught skills to cultivate inclusive thinking and foster workplaces that embrace and uplift diverse lived experiences," according to a news release.

The event is free, however space is limited. Anyone interested in attending is asked to register in advance.
