Innisfil's Halloween decorating contest and tour is back for the second year in a row.

Residents are invited to deck their homes in spooky, gory Halloween decorations for a chance at winning some amazing prizes. A tour map is made available for residents of all participating houses for families to drive by and vote on their favourites.

Organizer, community volunteer Jennifer Richardson says she is looking forward to the event and hoping to get even more participation than last year, which saw 94 houses registered.

Richardson and her family love Halloween and came up with the idea for the contest and tour last year when trick or treating had posed a challenge due to Covid-19.

She wanted to make it as community-focused as possible, having local businesses take part by donating gift certificates as prizes for the best-decorated homes, and having the mayor and members of council choose a winner for each of their wards.

The contest is open to all Innisfil residents, and only those with an Innisfil address may vote in the contest.  All registrants must have their houses decorated in time for the two-day judging period of Oct.29-30.

It's $10 to register your home in the competition, with all money raised going to the Innisfil Food Bank and Christmas 4 Kids charities.

Awards will be dropped off on Halloween, Sunday, Oct.31.
