In partnership with the MacLaren Art Centre, the works of Toronto artist Francisco-Fernando Granados are now on display at the Lakeshore branch of the library at 967 Innisfil Beach Rd. Granados (he/him) was born in Guatemala and lives in Tkaronto/Toronto. Through media that extends from drawing and performance into installation, publishing, and public art, he uses abstraction as a conceptual strategy to create projects that queer perceptions of identity. The letters began as an exhibition at the MacLaren Art Centre as a gift to the community, intended to be displayed in community spaces. On display until the end of June.

Save the date for drag queen story time

Mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss drag queen story time — a family-friendly, inclusive event filled with stories and songs that explores themes of diversity and acceptance. Families will enjoy listening to stories, singing songs and participating in rhymes. After story time, there will be a fun craft to take home, and an opportunity for a meet-and-greet with the two performers. Drag queen story time is one of many inclusive programs at our library that promotes literacy, diversity and acceptance.

Registration is required for this free event. July 7, 2023, 1 p.m., Lakeshore branch.
