Congratulations to Erin O’Toole on winning a hard-fought race to become the next leader of the Conservative Party of Canada (CPC).
Also, congratulations to Peter MacKay, Leslyn Lewis and Derek Sloan for taking up the challenge to run a campaign during such a difficult time and in the face of a global pandemic. Their dedication to the CPC and Canadians is truly remarkable and I wish them all the best.
As Barrie-Innisfil MP, I am excited and honoured to be embarking on the CPC’s next important chapter under the direction of Leader O’Toole. This will be a great challenge for all of us and it is more important than ever to unite the party behind O’Toole, as we look towards winning the next election and rescuing Canada from Justin Trudeau’s ideology.
By working together, Conservatives will represent Canadians from all regions and stop the division we have experienced over the last five years. We are all Canadians – whether we live in central Ontario, the Maritimes, the North or Western Canada, and we all deserve fair and honest representation in the House of Commons. That is what a united CPC will do, with the leadership of Erin O’Toole.
There is so much at stake as we continue to battle COVID-19 and face a devastating economic crisis. It is our job to listen to Canadians and provide a positive alternative to the current government. I look forward to setting a new ethical standard for government that puts in place laws and actual consequences for corruption in the highest offices of the land.
To build a prosperous future, we must put policies in place that will enable Canadian businesses of all sizes and the people they employ to recover from the impact of the pandemic and resulting shutdowns.
We must ensure that Canada is competitive — an attractive place for the world to invest — and we must create an environment for that investment to occur. There is a positive alternative to big government creating higher taxes and strangling legislation that cause investor confidence to be lost and Canadians to suffer.
This is an exciting day for Canada and the Conservative Party of Canada as we look forward to a bright and prosperous future with Erin O’Toole.
