Public Health Ontario has reported 299 new COVID-19 cases in its latest report (June 29).
The report today includes 90 cases confirmed to Toronto Public Health in 2020.
Today's update also includes 371 new recoveries and 25 deaths.
The deaths reported include five people between 40 and 59 years old, 12 people person between 60 and 79 years old, and eight people over 79 years old
The June 29 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:
- 2,409 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 2,506 yesterday.
- 257 COVID-positive people are currently hospitalized in Ontario, up from 218 yesterday.
- There are 276 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness, but 63 of those patients no longer test positive for COVID-19.
- 185 people are on ventilators due to COVID-related illness, but 31 of them no longer test positive for COVID-19.
- The province reported 28,306 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.6 per cent positivity rate.
- There are 11,990 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 15.9 million tests to date.
- Of the new cases reported today, 69 are from Waterloo, 130 are from Toronto (including 90 cases not reported from 2020), 20 cases are from Peel, and four are from York Region.
- Today's cases include 62 individuals aged 19 and under, 83 people between 20 and 39 years old, 96 people between 40 and 59 years old, 34 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 26 people aged 80 and over.
Vaccines
- There were 265,231 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
- 14,472,741 doses of vaccine have been administered.
- In total, 4,563,469 people have been fully vaccinated.
Public Health Ontario has confirmed 544,713 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 533,150 recoveries and 9,154 deaths.
The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 3,664.5 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.
Ontario's average weekly incidence rate is 13.1 cases per 100,000 people, which is down by 19.6 per cent from the prior seven-day period.
Simcoe-Muskoka
Yesterday, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 16 new cases confirmed in the region since Friday.
There are 97 active cases in the region and 12 people from Simcoe County are hospitalized with COVID-related illness.
Since the start of the pandemic, the local health unit has confirmed 12,264 cases of COVID-19 with 11,496 of those cases recovered and 249 cases ending in death.
The weekly incidence rate in Simcoe-Muskoka is 6.2 cases per 100,000, which is down by 29.5 per cent over last week.
