Barrie police are trying to identify the driver of this vehicle following an incident in the city's south end on Oct. 17.

Barrie police are hoping the public can help identify the driver of a white car after he attempted to engage a teenage girl in an awkward chat earlier this week.

"He was carrying on a conversation with her and she felt uncomfortable," said Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon.

The driver then turned around and came back toward the girl and tried to speak to her again.

"She did the right thing," Leon added. "She took a picture of the car and called home right away.

"In today's world, where everyone has a phone, she did everything great," Leon said.

Police say the incident happened Tuesday, Oct. 17 between 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 a.m. in the area of Little Avenue and Carol Road, in the city's south end.

Police have released a photo of the vehicle on social media. The vehicle is described as a white Honda Civic with a blue licence plate cover. There was also a green, black and gold flag sticker somewhere on the back of the car.

The male driver is described as having a dark complexion, facial hair and a large build. No possible age was available .
