Public Health Ontario reports 31 deaths and 1,024 hospitalizations with COVID-19

Testing captured 2338 new cases of COVID-19

Public Health Ontario is reporting 1024 people in hospital with COVID-19, 284 in ICU and 2,338 new COVID cases today, however, that total is underestimated due to limitations in who can get tested.

The Feb. 26 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:

  • 2,153 recoveries and 31 deaths
  • Of the new cases reported today, 261 were unvaccinated people, 78 were partially vaccinated, 1,821 were fully vaccinated, and 178 are listed as vaccination status unknown.
  • 148 patients in ICU with COVID-19 are on ventilators (24 of those patients no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • The province reported 16,052 tests were processed yesterday with a 14.6 per cent positivity rate.
  • Another 6,030 tests are still under investigation and/or being processed. To date, over 23 million tests have been completed.

Vaccines

  • There were 29,072 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 31,645,374 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 11,998,022 people have been fully vaccinated.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 1,098,695 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 1,067,714 recoveries and 12,420 deaths, 4,472 of those in long-term care homes.
