The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) has a long-standing record of fiscal responsibility and accountability. At the May 25 Board meeting, SCDSB trustees approved a balanced budget in excess of $650 million for the 2022-2023 school year.

Highlights include:

  • Overall increase to staffing complement to support our growing schools and communities
  • Increased investment in graduation coaches for Black and Indigenous students
  • Increased investment in social work services, supporting the focus on student mental health and well-being

The SCDSB continues to experience financial pressures related to the following three areas: accommodation of students, educational development charges and transportation. The board of trustees continues to advocate for increased support in these areas.

Funding is allocated to school boards from the Ministry of Education on a per-pupil basis, as well as through grants for specific program areas, and funding for capital priorities.
