The Rotary Club of Innisfil has made a $1,000 donation to the Season’s Centre for Grieving Children’s Brick by Brick Campaign.

This is their newest initiative that is building hope beyond their walls by providing Seasons Centre’s Community Grief Outreach Program across the Simcoe Muskoka Region.

Children are often the hidden mourners in our society. Approximately 1 in 14 children will experience the death of a significant family member before they are 18 years old. They estimate that 10,000 children in our region are missing out on Seasons Centre’s support.

Brick by brick donations will be helping children wherever their grief support is needed.

Over the past five years Seasons Centre has supported close to 100 Innisfil residents and students from Goodfellow Public School and Nantyr Shores Secondary School. They are seeing a growing need to support children grieving the death of their family member by suicide or drug overdose. These children often are affected by stigmas like stereotypes, shame, guilt, and trauma, associated with this type of death.

The Rotary Club of Innisfil has been helping the community since 2010 and currently has over 30 members. President Dean Bercier says, "It is great to be able to help important organizations in our community that make such an impact on people's lives."

Since 1995, Seasons Centre for Grieving Children has been providing peer to peer support for children between the ages of five and 24 years who are grieving the death of an immediate family member. The centre is founded on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grieve in a supportive and understanding environment.

“Thank you to the Rotary Club of Innisfil for helping build beyond our walls to better support grieving children and families across our communities,” says Rowley Ramey, Managing Director (volunteer) and Co-Founder of Seasons Centre for Grieving Children.
