The province has released a list of participating pharmacies, including five in Innisfil, which will be dispensing the antiviral treatment Paxlovid as of today.

A positive result for COVID-19 on a PCR or rapid test is required to be assessed for antiviral treatment, and it must be started within five days of symptom onset.

The participating pharmacies are:

Alcona 2 Pharmacy at 1354 Innisfil Beach Rd. Unit #6

Alcona Pharmacy at 14-1070 Innisfil Beach Rd.

Pharma Plus at 7975 Yonge St.

Shoppers Drug Mart at 1145 Innisfil Beach Rd.

Lefroy Pharmacy at B-1131 Killarney Beach Rd.

The full list of participating pharmacies across the region can be found here.

Earlier this week, chief medical officer Dr. Keiran Moore announced expanded access to Paxlovid, which had been available only at clinical assessment centres and primary care providers until now.

High-risk residents who are now eligible for testing and assessment for the treatment include:

  • Immunocompromised people 18 years and over
  • People who are 70 years and older
  • People 60 and over with fewer than three vaccine doses
  • People 18 years and over with fewer than three vaccine doses and at least one risk condition such as a chronic medical condition

Anyone who is eligible for an antiviral assessment is also eligible for a PCR test.

Until recently, testing has been limited to immunocompromised adults, unvaccinated people aged 60 and over, and unvaccinated people aged 50 and over if they are First Nation, Inuit or Metis individuals or have one or more risk factors.
