Several family pets perish in fire at Lefroy home Sunday

Damage pegged at more than $500,000, Innisfil fire chief says

A blaze caused extensive damage to a Lefroy home over the weekend.

Innisfil Fire and Rescue Service crews responded to a structure fire on Corner Avenue just after 10 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, firefighters found a "fully involved" home, Chief Brent Thomas said.

"They initiated a defensive attack and quickly had the fire under control," he said.

No one was injured in the incident, though several family pets did perish inside the building, Thomas said.

The fire is not considered suspicious. About $500,000 in damage, excluding contents, is reported.
