Spartans ask fans for an assist with PJ Toss event Friday night

'It is wonderful to give these children new PJs, a luxury that these kids do not get very often,' said Christmas for Kids official

The Innisfil Spartans Jr. C hockey club’s second annual PJ Toss returns Friday night (Dec.15).

Community members are invited to bring new pyjamas to the Innisfil Recreation Complex (located in the Innisfil YMCA at 7315 Yonge St.)  when the Innisfil Spartans will face off against the Orillia Terriers.

Hockey fans are encouraged to toss pyjamas onto the ice after the Innisfil Spartans score their first goal from the designated area. The pyjamas will be collected and donated to Christmas For Kids (All Year Round).

Wendy Paz, the Spartans administrative officer, told InnisfilToday that over 145 pyjamas were tossed onto the ice at last year’s PJ Toss.

"Christmas for Kids, a year-round charity in Innisfil, is thankful to our local Spartan hockey team for their second annual PJ toss,” said Myrlene Boken, president of Christmas for Kids (All Year Round).

”This year we have 660 children on our client list and it grows every day. It is wonderful to give these children new PJs, a luxury that these kids do not get very often. Thank you to the Spartan team for this creative initiative to give local children new PJs,” Broken said.

Tickets for the Innisfil Spartans’ games range from $6 for a child (6 years and up) to $10 for each adult (cash only at the door). A limited number of pyjamas will be available for sale at the event, but quantities are limited. All sizes are accepted.

Please visit the websites for the Innisfil Spartans and Christmas For Kids (All Year Round) to learn more about the respective organizations.

The event is sponsored by Thompson Law Professional Corporation, Fine Point Cabinetry & Trim and Nth Degree Contracting,
