Communities across Ontario are striving to promote healthier lifestyles through opportunities for accessible physical activity. Walking and hiking are some of the simplest forms of physical activity and it's often one of the most popular leisure activities. Currently, the largest section of off-road trail in Innisfil is the Thornton Cookstown Trans Canada Trail, a 14 km shared-use trail.

To ensure the Trans Canada Trail in Innisfil can be used for many years to come, the town is replacing two pedestrian bridges between the 14th and 15th Lines that are in poor condition. The town has received funding through the Trans Canada Trail grant in the amount of $150,000 to make the improvements.

The construction contract has been awarded to Serve Construction. Starting the first week of May to the end of July, a section of the Trans Canada Trail between the 14th Line and 15th Line will be closed for the replacement of two Pedestrian Bridges. The contractor will be installing trail detour signs.
