Two charged after vehicle stolen from Angus driveway

Both face break and enter, theft charges

ESSA TOWNSHIP - On June 27, 2021 at approximately 5:00 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of a motor vehicle call from Margaret Street in Angus.

Information provided to police that a grey 2010 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from a driveway.

Police immediately made patrols and located the vehicle in motion on Mill Street in Angus.

As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old James Smith, of Essa Township, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Theft over $5000 (of a motor vehicle)
  • Possession property obtained by crime (over $5000) x2
  • Possession break in instruments
  • Trespassing at night
  • Theft over $5000

Also as a result of the investigation, 38-year-old Brian Partridge, of Essa Township, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Theft over $5000 (of a motor vehicle)
  • Possession property obtained by crime (over $5000) x2
  • Possession break-in instruments
  • Trespassing at night
  • Theft over $5000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on July 29, 2021.
