The Rotary Club of Innisfil has pledged $20,000 to the RVH Keep Life Wild campaign.

Now the work begins.

The Rotary Club of Innisfil has pledged $20,000 to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) Foundation’s Keep Life Wild campaign. Over the next few years, members will raise the money through a number of initiatives, and they’re driven by the goal of bringing a new healthcare facility to town.

Luckily, local Rotarians are always up for a good challenge, club president Susie Parker told InnisfilToday.

“We’re really proud,” she said of the commitment. “It’s the biggest donation we’ve ever pledged. We’re excited to help get on the ground floor with the new campus. We’re all ultimately going to be using that location and we want to make sure we’ve stepped up to the plate for it. We think it’s a very important thing for our community. This will be a big plus for Innisfil.”

The campaign will support, in part, the building of RVH’s South campus, a project that has been in development since 2017. Property near the intersection of Innisfil Beach Road and Simcoe County Road 4 (Yonge Street) was selected for it about two years ago, and a Minister’s Zoning Order to fast-track construction of the site soon followed at the request of town council.

This 83-acre parcel of land would, within a decade, house a “health hub” that focuses primarily on outpatient care; in 20 years, plans show a full-service hospital with an emergency room on site.

The total cost to build the South campus was estimated at $700 million in 2021.

“Their gift will support building a new RVH healthcare facility in their community to provide care closer to home for more of their neighbours, loved ones, and friends,” said the foundation in a statement about the Rotary pledge. “We are incredibly grateful for their dedication to bringing more world-class, specialized care to our region to ensure more of us can stay healthy and stay wild.”
