Barn doors open: Colts training camp starts today

OHL team conducting fitness testing today, followed by two days of intrasquad games and then Blue-White game on Thursday

The Barrie Colts opened training camp today ahead of the 2023-24 Ontario Hockey League season. 

The day began with fitness testing on Monday, which was closed to the public. 

On Tuesday, Aug. 29, there will be several intra-squad games throughout the day at Sadlon Arena (555 Bayview Dr.) in south-end Barrie, beginning with Navy versus Red from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., White versus Gold from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Navy versus White from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Red versus Gold from 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Aug. 30, White will take on Red from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by Navy versus Gold from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The third- and fourth-place teams will then play from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., while first-place will take on second-place from 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The team will then play its annual Blue-White game on Thursday, Aug. 31 beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is free and there will also be free hot dogs.

All game sessions are open to the public to attend.

Last season, the Colts were eliminated in seven games by the North Bay Battalion in the second round of the OHL playoffs.
