A seven-run eighth inning led the Barrie Baycats to a 17-8 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs in a slug fest at Dominico Field at Christie Pits, Wednesday, during Intercounty Baseball League action.

The Baycats took advantage and scored seven runs on five hits, including back-to-back-to-back home runs by Adam Odd, who hit a two-run blast, Victor Plaz and Josh Cote.

Canice Ejoh also had a two-run homer in the third inning, while Starlin Rodriguez did the same in the first inning.

Not to be out done, the Maple Leafs also showed its power at home. Jordan Castaldo Nd Johnathan Solazzo each had a two-run blast in the third inning, while Justin Marra did the same thing in the sixth.

Adam Khan was credited with the win on the mound, while Julian Valdez was tagged with the loss.

The Baycats improve to 12-5 and visit the Welland Jackfish Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The Maple leafs drop to 10-8 and also play on Canada Day, when they visit the Guelph Royals at 1 p.m.
