Baycats land Cardinals in first-round playoff match-up

Best-of-five series gets underway Thursday night at Vintage Throne Stadium at the Barrie Community Sports Complex in Midhurst

The Barrie Baycats now know who they will be playing in the opening round of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) playoffs. 

The third-seed Baycats will take on the sixth-seed Hamilton Cardinals in the first round, starting later this week. 

The best-of-five series will get underway on Thursday night at Vintage Throne Stadium at the Barrie Community Sports Complex in Midhurst. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.

Game 2 follows at Bernie Arbour Stadium in Hamilton on Friday, Aug. 25, also at 7:35 p.m., and then Game 3 back in Midhurst on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 4:05 p.m.

If necessary, Game 4 goes Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 7:35 p.m., back in Steeltown. 

A deciding Game 5 would be played in Midhurst on a date to be determined.

Barrie finished the season with a 26-16 record, while Hamilton was 18-23.
