3 people, including child, sent to hospital after Innisfil crash

Collision between a dump truck and an SUV happened at the Yonge Street and 7th Line intersection late Thursday afternoon

A crash closed a busy stretch of Yonge Street in Innisfil Thursday.

South Simcoe police were called to a collision between a dump truck and an SUV Nov. 2 at about 4:30 p.m. Three people who were in the SUV were transported to hospital — two adults to be treated for minor injuries and a child for precautionary reasons.

The dump truck driver was not injured and has been charged with careless driving and multiple commercial motor vehicle-related offences, police say.

This incident snarled traffic in the area during the evening rush hour. The 7th Line was closed westbound from the 20th Sideroad while Yonge was closed northbound from the 6th Line and southbound just south of Innisfil Beach Road.

As of just after 6 p.m., road closures were in effect in the area while spilled diesel fuel was being cleaned up.
