Arrest made after shots fired in Tottenham

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH - On Aug. 29, 2020 shortly after 10 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a shooting incident at a residence on Martin Trail in Tottenham, Ont.

[It is alleged that] two men began to argue at neighbourhood barbeque. During the dispute, one of the men produced a handgun and shot multiple rounds into the air before fleeing in a vehicle. No one was injured. The male turned himself into police on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2020.

Jeff Northeim, 31 years old from the Town of New Tecumseth, has been arrested and charged with:
    •    Unlawful possession of a restricted firearm
    •    Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
    •    Discharging a firearm in a reckless manner
    •    Carless use of a firearm
    •    Uttering threat (two counts)
    •    Occupying a motor vehicle with a restricted firearm

The accused was held in custody pending a show cause hearing.
