Barrie, Etobicoke residents charged with impaired driving by South Simcoe police

Incidents occurred in Innisfil and Bradford on Oct. 13 and 14; all three drivers had their licences suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven, police say

The South Simcoe Police Service laid the following impaired driving charges over the weekend.

On Friday, October 13, 2023, at approximately 10:20 p.m., police responded to a three vehicle collision in the area of Holland Street West and Summerlyn Trail in the Town of of Bradford West Gwillimbury. An SUV rear-ended another SUV that was stopped at a red light. The collision impact pushed the second SUV forward, causing a rear-end collision with a pickup truck.  The driver of the first SUV suffered minor injuries and was arrested for impaired driving.  

As a result of the investigation, 42-year-old Melissa Rhodes Gray of Barrie, was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired - Excess Blood Alcohol, and Dangerous Operation.  

On Friday, October 13, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Yonge Street and Highway 89 in the Town of Innisfil. A vehicle stop was conducted.

As a result of the investigation, 51-year-old Tetyana Yedlitska of Etobicoke was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired - Excess Blood Alcohol, and Dangerous Operation.

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, at approximately 2:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Yonge Street and 5th Line in the Town of Innisfil.  A vehicle stop was conducted.  

As a result of the investigation, 41-year-old Alan Bickers of Barrie was charged with Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired - Excess Blood Alcohol, Driving Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor, and Fail to Surrender Insurance Card.

These drivers had their licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicles impounded for seven days.
