A local man faces multiple child-pornography charges following an investigation by the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

City police say officers arrested the 37-year-old Barrie man on Friday, Dec. 1 after a two-month investigation.

The suspect has been charged with accessing child pornography, possession of child pornography and making child pornography available.

The accused was held for a bail hearing. The suspect's name was not released.

Police allege the man used a peer-to-peer network to allow "like-minded users" to connect via the internet and download/upload child pornography files that he were in his possession.

Officers executed a search warrant at his residence and seized several computer devices allegedly containing child pornography.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
