A Good Samaritan helped South Simcoe police track down an alleged impaired driver two day ago.

Officers responded March 23 to a call about a Toyota pickup truck with a plow attached to the front, which was apparently being driven in a “bizarre manner,” the department said in a media release issued Monday morning.

The caller followed the truck from Highway 400 to the 10th Sideroad, then contacted police after losing track of the vehicle.

Uniform and traffic unit officers responded to the area to search for the truck. It was eventually intercepted as it turned from the 8th Line onto Yonge Street, police say.

Once stopped, an investigation was conducted, resulting in the arrest of a 34-year-old Barrie man. He was taken to the North Division station in Innisfil and later charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and having over 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his system.

In addition, the man’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for seven.
