Woman suffers 'serious' injuries in downtown Barrie shooting

City police responded to a shooting in downtown Barrie late Friday afternoon. Officers cordoned off an area at the back of a building on Lakeshore Mews, near Simcoe and Mulcaster streets.

Barrie police say a woman suffered serious injuries and is in non-life-threatening condition after a "reported" shooting Friday afternoon. 

Emergency crews responded to Lakeshore Mews, an area near Dunlop and Mulcaster streets at the city's waterfront, around 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 24. 

Police have said the 59-year-old victim was airlifted to a Toronto hospital. 

No information has been released regarding any arrests or suspects. 

"There is no risk to public safety," police said in a news release Saturday morning. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
