Bicycle theft leads to multitude of charges for Essa Township duo

One faces possession of stolen property and drug charges, the other drug charges

TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH, ADJALA-TOSORONTIO & ESSA TOWNSHIPS, ON - The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made an arrest after investigating a stolen bicycle in Angus, Essa Township.

On Sunday, June 7, 2020, officers were advised of a theft of a bicycle from a residence that occurred on Wednesday, June 3, between 3 and 7 p.m. The bicycle was described as having particularly distinct stickers.

The owner observed a female and male riding the stolen bicycle and called police.

At approximately 11:22 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP attended the area where the female and male were last seen on the bicycle. Officers located the pair, and commenced an investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Christina Keene, 42-years-old of Essa Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, contrary to s.354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC); and
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- other drugs, contrary to s.4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

Additionally, Stephen Marshall, 32-years-old of Essa Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- other drugs, contrary to s.4(1) CDSA.

Both accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on Aug. 6, 2020.
