Suspected drugs were seized during a search warrant at a Bradford apartment over the weekend.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and is facing drug charges after South Simcoe police say they dismantled a suspected drug lab in downtown Bradford.

On July 14 at approximately 4 p.m., police say officers went to a Holland Street apartment to conduct a well-being check.

While in the apartment, police say officers saw "a large quantity of suspected controlled substances in plain view," according to a news release, and arrested a man for Controlled Drug and Substances Act offences.

Two of the officers who entered the apartment were taken to hospital as a precaution for inhalation of vapours, but were cleared medically and resumed their duties, according to police.

On July 15, a search warrant was executed at the apartment and police say they seized 1.4 kilograms of suspected controlled substances and 1.4 kilograms of other substances used in the production of drugs.

Officers were able to safely remove and dispose of hazardous material that was in the unit, according to police.

Cosmin Baicu, 19, of Bradford, has been charged with drug possession, production and trafficking offences.
