One person was injured in a serious collision in Innisfil Monday morning.

In a series of Jan. 15 posts on X, the social-media platform formerly known as Twitter, South Simcoe police reported that emergency crews were attending the scene of a crash on the 25th Sideroad, north of Lockhart Road, in Innisfil. Police said a vehicle struck a parked car, tree and gas line.

As a result of the collision, the driver was transported to hospital.

The gas line was severed during the incident. Homes closest to the leak were evacuated, though Enbridge crews had mostly resolved the situation by early Monday afternoon.

“Our crews accessed the regulator and safely shut off the gas supply,” Enbridge communications advisor Lesley Hunter said. “One customer is without natural gas service and we are working to restore their service as soon as possible today.”

Police, firefighters and County of Simcoe paramedics initially responded to the crash.

The 25th is still closed between Lockhart and the 10th Line for the police investigation.

“Please avoid the area,” police said in one of the posts.
