Georgina teen, Tottenham man charged with alcohol-related driving offences

South Simcoe officers made both stops in Bradford; in one incident, driver was pulled over after police say they were travelling 108 km/h in a 60 km/h zone

South Simcoe police recently stopped two motorists and charged them with impaired driving-related offences.

BRADFORD - On Friday, June 14, 2024 at approximately 10 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The speed was confirmed at 108 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. Police conducted a traffic stop and after speaking to the driver, formed reasonable suspicion that alcohol may be a factor. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the north division for breath tests where readings were obtained of approximately twice the legal limit.

As a result of an investigation, a 25-year-old Tottenham man was charged with the following offences:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration
    •    Stunt driving
    •    Speeding - 108 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone

BRADFORD - On Saturday, June 15, 2024 at approximately 2:45 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic-related vehicle stop. When speaking to the driver, police detected an odour of alcohol and observed a liquor container in the rear passenger seat. A roadside breath test was conducted which resulted in a caution.

As a result of an investigation, a 18-year-old Georgina man was charged with novice driver - blood alcohol content above zero and person under 19 years obtaining liquor.

His licence was suspended for three days.
