A vehicle is pulled from the water Wednesday at a marina in Honey Harbour. A 79-year-old Hamilton man died when the vehicle entered the water, police said.

A 79-year-old Hamilton man died Wednesday when a vehicle drove into Georgian Bay at Honey Harbour, according to a news release.

The victim was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at hospital, police say.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to a marina in Honey Harbour just after 3:30 p.m., July 19, assisted at the scene by Simcoe County and Muskoka Region EMS, as well as Georgian Bay Township Fire Service.

Officers learned that a vehicle had driven into the water and a quick effort was made by people in the area as well as an officer who entered the water in a rescue attempt. The occupant was removed from the vehicle and life-saving measures were performed, the OPP release stated.

The OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation is assisting in determining the cause of the incident.
