A local man is facing charges after a youth was struck by an all-terrain vehicle Monday in Innisfil.

South Simcoe police officers responded at about 7:20 p.m., July 31, to the area of 20th Sideroad and Innisfil Beach Road in Alcona. Police learned the incident began with a verbal altercation between a man and two teenage boys at a nearby plaza.

Police say the man had asked the teens to move their bicycles that were parked outside of a store. The teens left the plaza on their bikes and the man followed them in his vehicle.

“At one point, the male exited his vehicle and chased one of the youths before getting back in his vehicle and speeding off. The male returned to the scene on an ATV and struck one of the teens on the sidewalk,” police stated in a news release.

No one was injured.

Brock Buckingham, 38, of Innisfil, has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault and failure to stop after a collision. He was released from custody with a future court date.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
