An Innisfil man has been charged with driving while impaired by a drug following a traffic stop Thursday morning in south-end Barrie.

City police say they received a complaint around 10 a.m., July 14, from a concerned citizen regarding the suspect's driving behaviour on Bayview Drive.

Police say officers located the truck leaving a business on Mollard Court and a traffic stop was conducted.

After a roadside investigation, the driver, who allegedly showed signs of impairment, was arrested.

The driver, a 26-year-old Innisfil man, was transported to Barrie police headquarters on nearby Fairview Road where he was interviewed by a drug recognition evaluator who determined that he was impaired by a drug.

In addition to being charged with impaired operation (drug) of a vehicle, the accused has also been charged with breach of an undertaking and failure to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing.
