An Innisfil woman is facing charges after police say she defrauded an online retailer.

The South Simcoe Police Service says the accused posed as numerous customers.

Police began investigating in early June, when a business that sells health and wellness products reported three orders were likely fraudulent from someone using three different names.

“In each case, the ‘customers’ claimed they were notified of delivery, but said their packages never arrived,” police said in a news release. “The suspect used forged documents to convince the company the claims were legitimate and was ‘refunded’ several thousand dollars.”

The 35-year-old woman was charged with three counts of fraud, two counts of making a forged document, and two counts of using forged documents. She was released from custody and has a future court date.
