Rio Can Georgian Mall, located on Bayfield Street in Barrie, is shown in a file photo.

Barrie police say no charges are being laid at this time following a weapons call yesterday at a north-end mall.

“The victim is not co-operating with police, therefore no further action will be taken unless further information is received,” Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday on Friday morning.

Officers were called to Georgian Mall on Bayfield Street at 12:35 p.m., Sept. 28, for a man allegedly waving a knife.

Several police vehicles responded to the scene and set up a perimeter. Officers could be seen with their weapons drawn.

Police say officers searched the mall property and also the vicinity near Walmart, across the street, but could not locate the suspect.

Police have said, however, that they know the man's identity.

Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call Barrie police at 705-725-7025.
