Police seek witnesses, suspects in attempted theft of motor vehicle

The South Simcoe Police Service is looking for witnesses and suspects in connection with the attempted theft of a motor vehicle in Innisfil.

On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at approximately 5:55 p.m., police were called to a residence in the area of Big Bay Point Road and 13th Line where the theft was averted by a security system the owner installed in the vehicle, a news release said.  The anti-theft system immobilizes the vehicle if an access code is not entered once the vehicle is put in drive. The suspects abandoned their failed theft attempt and fled the scene in a grey 2021 BMW X5.  

The suspects are described as:

  • Suspect No. 1 Male, Black, large build, black socks, white/grey slides, grey cotton type shorts, black sweater with a hood and black face mask.
  • Suspect No. 2 Male, Black, skinny, white socks, black shoes with yellow soles, grey skinny jeans, black sweater with a Nike symbol on the left of the hood.
  • Suspect No. 3 Male, Black, medium build, black shoes, black pants, black sweater with red verbiage across the back.

This attempted theft is believed to be an isolated incident and not linked to any other occurrence.
