The South Simcoe Police Service is releasing additional details in the hope of hearing from more witnesses following a fatal collision in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

On July 21, just after 11 a.m., the South Simcoe Police Service responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on County Road 27 at the 3rd Line. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles that had been involved in a serious collision. Emergency crews from King and Bradford Fire along with paramedics from York and Simcoe attended the scene.

Through an extensive at-scene investigation, investigators have been able to determine that a grey 2022 Lexus containing an 84-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman from Toronto was driving in the northbound lane of County Road 27. Evidence at the scene confirms that a southbound black 2011 Lexus being operated by a 28-year-old man from Brampton entered the northbound lane at a high rate of speed, striking the northbound vehicle. As a result of the collision, a fire broke out in the northbound vehicle as it came to rest. Motorists that arrived on scene rendered assistance prior to the arrival of emergency crews.

Both occupants of the northbound Lexus died as a result of their injuries related to the impact and were pronounced on scene. The driver of the southbound vehicle was transported to a Toronto-area hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Next of kin of all involved have been notified.

Police are releasing additional details in the hope of hearing from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police. Investigators are appealing to anyone who was travelling on County Road 27 who may have witnessed the collision or the vehicles prior, or anyone with dash camera footage, to contact the South Simcoe Police Service.
