NEWS RELEASE
SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE
*************************
The South Simcoe Police Service is reminding residents to take steps to protect their parcels after a recent report of a porch pirate theft.

A Bradford resident reported he was notified of a package delivery last Wednesday at his home in the area of Line 8 and Rogers Trail.  No one was there to receive the parcel and when he arrived home, the package was not at his front door.

Police are urging residents to help reduce the risk of theft by following these steps:

  • Have packages delivered to your work (if allowed), a relative or trusted neighbour who will be home
  • Track deliveries online to know when they will arrive and plan to be there when the package is delivered
  • Request the package be left out of sight, at a side or rear door
  • Remove packages from your porch quickly once they arrive

We also encourage residents to report suspicious activity to police immediately and if you have a package stolen, report it to us.
