You might see some heavy police activity on the north end of Lake Simcoe next week, but don't be alarmed.

Orillia OPP, along with other police agencies and emergency services, will be conducting search-and-rescue training on Lake Simcoe on Wednesday, Sept. 6 and Thursday, Sept. 7.

"During this training, the public will see numerous emergency service vessels completing manoeuvres, OPP emergency response team (ERT) and civilian volunteers practising ground search and rescue, and search-and-rescue aircraft from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) out of Trenton, Ont., conducting low-level flights over Lake Simcoe and Mara Provincial Park," OPP stated in a news release.

The OPP says this training is a "key refresher" to emergency service members' skills and "ensures operation in a complex environment with multiple agencies."
