The South Simcoe Police Service laid numerous charges over the Thanksgiving weekend as part of Operation Impact 2022.

Operation Impact is an annual, national public awareness and enforcement campaign aimed at keeping our roads safe during the busy long weekend. The initiative focused on behaviours that put drivers, passengers and other road users at risk: impaired driving, aggressive driving, distracted driving, and driving without a seatbelt.

As a result of weekend enforcement, police laid the following charges: impaired driving (four), dangerous driving (two), stunt driving (three), careless driving (two), Highway Traffic Act tickets (33). These offences included speeding, stop sign violations and distracted driving.

Road safety is a year-round priority for the South Simcoe Police Service. Thank you to all the citizens who drive safely and responsibly. We would also like to thank citizens who report suspected impaired drivers.
