SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE SERVICE
The South Simcoe Police Service is joining police services across Ontario in kicking off Police Week (#PoliceWeekON), which celebrates the work front-line police officers, 9-1-1 communicators, civilian staff, and all members of Ontario police services do to keep Ontarians safe and healthy.
This year, Police Week runs from May 15 to 21. The theme for the week, Your Police Services: Helping Build Safer Communities, highlights and celebrates the important role our police officers and personnel play in helping Ontarians build and maintain healthy and safe communities across our province.
Police Week was first observed in 1970 and coincides with the Peace Officers Memorial Day, which is recognized internationally on May 15.
This year, we’re kicking off the week with an open house event on Saturday, May 14.
The open house starts at our North Division in Innisfil located at 2137 Innisfil Beach Rd. from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Then the open house moves to our South Division located at 81 Melbourne Dr. in Bradford from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Meet our specialized units and community partners. Check out our vehicles and tour our stations. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
You can safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medication at a prescription pill drop-off via staff from Pharamsave Lefroy. Naloxone kits will also be available to the public.
Plus for a $20 donation to charity, visitors can adopt their very own K9 Nitro Plush Pup. We’ll also have other fun activities and take-home items for our young visitors.
Stay tuned to our social media throughout this Police Week, as the South Simcoe Police Service will be highlighting the many ways in which our members continue to serve our community.
The annual Police Week in Ontario is sponsored by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and the Ontario Ministry of the Solicitor General. It is part of the National Police Week led by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
