April 7, 2024 – Over the weekend, the South Simcoe Police Service (SSPS) was actively engaged in responding to community needs, handling a total of 225 calls for service from Friday evening through Sunday at midnight.

Traffic related investigations:

Out of the 225 calls, 113 were related to traffic incidents. As a result, SSPS officers issued 87 charges for various offences including speeding, driving without a license, disobeying stop signs, failure to wear a seat belt, using unauthorized plates, and driving under suspension.

On Sunday, April 7, uniform patrol officers joined forces with traffic officers to conduct a seat belt compliance check at County Rd 88 and Kings Highway 400, Bradford West Gwillimbury. The operation checked in excess of 200 vehicles and found three drivers non-compliant.

Motor vehicle collisions:

During this period, there were four motor vehicle collisions reported, with two incidents resulting in injuries. SSPS reminds drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to ensure road safety for all.
