Police are searching for a suspect following an armed robbery Thursday morning at a convenience store in Penetanguishene.

Shortly after 1 a.m., a male entered the store on Main Street, brandished an edged weapon and demanded cash from an employee, Southern Georgian Bay OPP said in a news release. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a white male, five-foot-nine tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a blue hooded sweater, blue jeans, a medical mask and a black tuque. 

Anyone with information, or who has dash cam or surveillance footage from the area of Main and Robert streets between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m., is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Information can be provided anonymously to Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
