Suspects sought after abandoning car, boarding bus after crash

Barrie city police are trying to locate two adults and an infant after they allegedly left the scene of a crash on Mapleview Drive East near Park Place, Sunday evening.

“It’s kind of a head-scratcher,” said Peter Leon, the police department’s communication’s co-ordinator. “We responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision. The driver and occupant exited the vehicle, removed a child from the back seat, walked away from the scene and were last seen getting on a City of Barrie transit bus.

"We don’t know if they sustained any injuries … (and) they left their vehicle behind," he added. 

The incident happened around 6 p.m., Sept. 24.

Police are continuing to follow up with the incident and are looking to speak to anyone who may have information that can assist the investigation, or who may know the individuals involved in the crash. Anyone with information can call the investigating officer at 705-725-7025, ext. 2592.
