On Saturday, July 11, 2020 at approximately 8:20 p.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer in the Jans Boulevard and Corm Street area of Innisfil attempted to pull over a vehicle that was missing a licence plate.

The vehicle initially sped off but a traffic stop was quickly conducted and the officer detected an odour of alcohol. After a fail was registered on a roadside screening device, the driver was arrested and transported to North Division.

Breath tests resulted in readings over the legal limit of alcohol.

22-year-old Mitchell Barnes of Innisfil was charged with operation while impaired, over 80 and fail to display two licence plates.

His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
