A truck driver has been charged following a crash in Belle Ewart Monday evening.
South Simcoe police responded to a driving complaint involving the vehicle May 6 at around 5:40 p.m. The vehicle, a medium-duty transportation truck, then allegedly hit a retaining wall and hydro pole along Maple Road in Belle Ewart a short time later.
This stretch of roadway was closed while emergency crews cleaned up the area.
“Police spoke with the driver, who then left the scene,” Sgt. Dave Phillips told InnisfilToday. “Police tracked the suspect with the assistance of K9 however were not able to locate them.”
The suspect, a 51-year-old Coldwater man, attended a South Simcoe police station Tuesday and has been charged with careless driving and fail to remain.
Neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in this incident, Phillips said.
