Two Barrie teens face robbery charges after a pair of weekend incidents allegedly involving the theft of alcohol, cigarettes and cash.

Around 2:20 a.m. on Nov. 4, Barrie police say officers responded to an alarm at a Dunlop Street West business.

When they arrived on scene, police say the front door was unlocked and officers later determined several bottles of alcohol had been stolen.

While awaiting the owner of the Dunlop business, police say officers were approached by a victim "who had just been robbed of an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes," according to a news release.

"She indicated that at 4:31 a.m., two unknown males approached her and asked for a cigarette. When she removed the cigarettes, some Canadian currency was accidentally displayed," the release stated. "A struggle ensued, the money was obtained, and the males fled on foot celebrating their criminal act."

Twelve minutes later, after a detailed description of the suspects was shared with officers working in the downtown area, the two suspects were located and arrested for robbery.

As police continued the investigation at headquarters on Fairview Road, officers also linked to the two suspects to the Dunlop break-in.

Two youths, aged 14 and 15, both from Barrie, have been charged with break and enter and robbery.

Police say the 14-year-old was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on Dec. 5, while the 15-year-old was held in custody for a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
