Editor's note: An OPP news release incorrectly identified the place of residence of the deceased. They were from Whitchurch-Stouffville, not Holland Landing. The story has been updated.

Two people from Whitchurch-Stouffville, including a five-year-old, are dead and another family member is injured after a single ATV crash on Sunday evening near Emsdale in northern Ontario, south of Burk's Falls in Perry Township.

OPP say on Sunday, July 23 at 6:50 p.m., a call came in about a single all-terrain vehicle accident involving three people on Stewart's Road.

A 42-year-old person was pronounced dead at the scene, while a five-year-old was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died, according to police. A nine-year-old was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say all three are related and were on the ATV at the same time. The family is from Whitchurch-Stouffville.

The crime unit and traffic incident management enforcement team are assisting with the investigation.

Currently, the investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Almaguin Highlands OPP, Muskoka Paramedic Service, Parry Sound District Emergency Medical Service, and the Perry Fire Department also responded to the scene.
