When speaking to the driver, police detected an odour of alcohol and an open liquor container between the passengers legs. A roadside breath test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to the North Division. As a result of an investigation, a 35-year-old Innisfil man was charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration, novice driver - blood alcohol content above zero, and having care and control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor. His licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

If you drink or consume drugs, plan not to drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, arrange for a ride service, take public transportation or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture. If you suspect someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 911 to report it. Your call may save a life.
