Two motorcyclists injured Sunday in separate collisions

In one crash, 90-year-old driver in another vehicle was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm

South Simcoe police is urging riders and drivers to be cautious and maintain a safe space following two separate collisions involving motorcycles in Innisfil on Sunday.

At around 1:45 p.m., Aug. 27, police say they were called to the intersection of Innisfil Beach Road and Sideroad 10 after a motorcycle was struck by a vehicle.

The driver of the motorcycle suffered serious injuries, police stated in a news release.

The 43-year-old Innisfil man was transported to a local hospital, then airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre.

The driver of the vehicle, a 90-year-old man from Innisfil, was charged with careless driving causing bodily harm.  

In a second incident at around 6 p.m., police were called to a collision involving a motorcycle struck by a vehicle, this time in the area of 6th Line and Yonge Street.

The motorcyclist, a 56-year-old man from New Brunswick, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, a 49-year-old man from Innisfil, was charged with careless driving.
