Postcard Memories is a series of historic views, stories, and photos of Innisfil and the area, a trip down memory lane on a Saturday morning.

The hamlet of Barclay is located at the corner of Innisfil Beach Road and Hwy. 11. It was named after George Barclay (1834-1917) who was appointed postmaster in 1876. The post office was renamed in his honour February 1, 1906 to limit confusion when it was realized that local mail was being sent to Western Canada that had similarly spelled place names – for example Innisfile, Innisfale. George was also a magistrate and owned a farm in the area.

Barclay was a federal electoral district from February 6, 1841 until November 1914 and the post office closed the same year.
