The nomination period for the 2022 Municipal Election closed last Friday, and the race is on to see who will be sitting at the Innisfil Council table this fall.

Mayor Lynn Dollin is seeking re-election this term, opposed by current Deputy Mayor Daniel Davidson.

Running for the deputy mayor position are current councillors, Rob Nicol of Ward 7 and Kenneth Fowler of Ward 5. Nicol has served as Ward 7 councillor for two terms, and Fowler is wrapping up his first term on council.

Ward 1 incumbent Kevin Eisses is seeking re-election in the ward, running against newcomer Lynn Iwanow. Eisses has served on council for one term.

With Ward 2 Coun. Bill Van Berkel not seeking re-election this term, there are four candidates lined up to replace him: Grace Constantine, Carol Griffith, Scott Jones, and Anil Dutta.

Over in Ward 3, newcomers Jennifer Richardson, Leslie Pollak, Andrew Harrigan, and Naz Obredor are all vying to be elected as the ward's councillor.

Coun. Alex Waters will be seeking re-election in Ward 4 opposed by Steve Fishman. Waters has served on council since 2018.

There are four candidates running for the Ward 5 councillor position: Mattew Kenney, Jeanette Luchese-Jacobs, Linda Zanella, and James Roncone.

With Coun. Carolyn Payne not seeking re-election, Robert Saunders, Megan Varga, and Lisa Maxwell are looking to step in to replace her. And in Ward 7 there are three candidates running, Fred Drodge, Kevin Eckhardt, and Jake Tucker.

InnisfilToday has already posted some of the candidate profiles on our election page and will be posting the rest in the coming weeks.
